Anthropic adds source checks and legal workflows to Claude for Legal

Anthropic has added interactive summaries and tables to Claude for Legal, the service it launched in May. The tools handle research and document checks, tracing each claim to a source before passing the results to a lawyer for review. That handoff matters: the product is positioned as a way to speed up routine legal work, not to replace professional judgment.

From research to review

The new features support tasks such as:

Checking links and quotations
Comparing laws across countries
Managing case materials
Tracking proposed legislation
Checking contracts against internal rules

Claude for Legal’s catalog includes more than 60 integrations, including Bloomberg Law. Users can also connect their own databases without manually uploading files.

The platform’s wider pitch

Goodwin, Harvey, Foley & Lardner and PwC also offer their own tools on the platform. Anthropic says built-in settings protect data and preserve client-defined boundaries between teams that must not share information.

I think the source trail and lawyer review are the most consequential parts of the announcement. They make the system’s role legible: it prepares work for a human to check. What I’d want to know is how reliably it catches faulty citations or mismatches in legal text; the announcement describes the workflow, but gives no accuracy results. Without those, the promise is about process, not proof that the checks are dependable.
