From wardrobe to itinerary
Users can choose a specific item and ask Style Sketch for new combinations that include it. For travel, they provide a destination, trip length and planned activities; the app then recommends outfits based on the forecast and route.
The idea is not new. Alta offers AI-assisted wardrobe digitization and outfit suggestions, while Google Photos can turn clothing pictures into a digital wardrobe and suggest combinations. Style Sketch’s Instagram access could give Meta a different starting point: users may already have photos that reflect how they dress.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra first reported the launch. Meta did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment, leaving it unclear whether the app will become more widely available.
One app in a broader push
Style Sketch is one of several AI apps Meta has released in recent months. The company has also launched Waddle World, an AI app resembling a virtual pet; Pocket, a prompt-based game-creation tool; and Vibes, an app for quickly generating AI video.
Earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees Meta planned to release significantly more apps than before. The publication attributed the push to AI making work more efficient and new products easier to launch.
I think Style Sketch’s real test is whether Instagram gives it a useful advantage, rather than simply another place to ask for outfit ideas. The announcement says little about how the app uses those photos or whether its recommendations improve with them. Without that distinction, it risks looking like a familiar wardrobe feature with Meta’s social graph attached.
